Mr. Deepak Gupta leads and provides strategic guidance to Shakti’s power sector programme – focused on distribution utility aspects, renewable energy, and rural energy access. With more than fifteen years of experience in the renewable energy and environment sector, he has played strategic roles in the areas of project development, technology, commercial, and financing aspects across the value chain. Deepak has been an integral part of several initiatives and committees of the Government of India, including those on drafting of National Renewable Energy Bill and wind potential assessment (Ministry of New & Renewable Energy); Renewable Energy Roadmap for India (Planning Commission / NITI Aayog), and is member of the National Steering Committee (NSC) for Renewable Sector in Technology Need Assessment (TNA) project of TIFAC. He has made active contributions to India Energy Security Scenario Tool 2047 and to the incumbent National Wind Energy Mission. Prior to joining Shakti in April 2010, he worked with Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Ltd., leading its waste management and renewable energy division at Delhi. Deepak is a Certified Energy Auditor and holds an M. Tech. (Energy & Environment Management) degree from IIT Delhi, an M.B.A. (Finance) from the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University, and is an engineering graduate (Environment Engineering) from Delhi College of Engineering (now Delhi Technical University).
